Starters Kit...What do you Actually require to start experimenting with electronics and embedded components

A lot of people (especially students) are interested in tinkering around with electronics but don;t know how to start. I mean questions like

  • What things to I need as a electronic Hobbyist ?
  • What is the size of the hole these things are going to burn in my pocket ?
  • It is safe to let the kids play with such stuff?
  • What all to study before I start with the dirty part of practical?

and so on..

Fortunately I will try and answer these questions for you, but to begin with just understand eLECTRONICS is fUN!!

Starters...Electronics 101 for Embedded Projects

First things first

To understand Arduino or Robotics for that matter, its important to learn about electricity and electronics. Also it does not hurt to understand some basic concepts about mechanics (Trust me, they can be the biggest pain if u plan to make a mechatronic system.). To start with you can visit the Robotics Club of Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur ( One of the most renowned engineering colleges in India) and watch the presentations. They are a good headstart. The link is down here

I promise to put up my own tutorials very soon, but currently I am unable to do so as I have to travel a lot these days.
